Our client is currently looking for a Workflow Developer to be based at their Birmingham offices. This role will involve both the development of completely new applications and the development of additional functionality to existing applications. The development work will be done in line with the company information architecture and in particular will include integration with a variety of other information systems.

Skills, knowledge and experience

• At least five years’ experience performing a similar role ideally in a professional services environment
• The necessary level of skill in relevant development technologies to be largely self-sufficient in designing and developing Windows based workflow applications
• Three or more years’ relevant C#.NET development experience
• Three or more years’ experience of MS SQL Server 2000, 2005, 2008
• A good understanding of development best practice
• Experience of one or more established project methodologies (e.g. PRINCE/2, Agile/SCRUM)
• An understanding of system architecture and its influence on scalability, reliability and maintainability
• A good appreciation of the wider field of IT outside own specialisation and
understand how own role relates to other IT roles and areas of the
business


Main duties and responsibilities

• Full lifecycle design, development and ongoing maintenance and support of complex workflow based applications. This will include developing, testing and maintaining program code relating to the workflow applications.
• Working closely with other members of the IT department (including development, core business systems, support and training teams) and with third party software suppliers.
• In conjunction with the core business team, liaising with stakeholders to determine functional requirements for workflow applications.
• Providing second line support for workflow applications as and when required.
• Attending any meetings or training sessions as required.
• Carrying out any further duties as required by the Head of IS/IT Development Team Leader or Workflow Applications Architect.
